Adapting to a New Normal in a Season of Isolation
Updated: Apr 1
Are you thinking about these people during this pandemic?

“No one is protecting them. No one is helping or saving them.”
We are all in isolation because we need to protect ourselves from COVID-19. Many are in a season of isolation because they are suffering from trauma in their homes. No one is protecting them. No one is helping or saving them.
Social distancing is essential for our health, but for the ones who are silently screaming for help, social distancing is a nightmare. Staying home may not be safe or healthy. They want to break free, not because they are bored or hardheaded, they need to break free from abuse and neglect. didn’t realize how much it impacted every aspect of my life.
“I wonder if churches are making calls to visitors and old members.”
I keep thinking about the babies and young children who have parents that don’t care about their well-being. I think about the wives who are abandoned and mistreated by their husbands. I think about elderly parents who are neglected by their children. People are suffering in ways others can’t even imagine, and this crisis is making it harder for them to survive.
I wonder if churches are making calls to visitors and old members. Are churches praying for the members they haven’t seen in a while? People are in desperate need, and if something happened to them, no one would even know. Are family and friends calling to check on them? They need help. They need encouragement.
Encouragement is necessary in times of despair. It gives people a sense of hope. They need love and support. They need to be saved from their current situation. I know the feeling of suffering, loneliness, abandonment, and isolation. I've been in situations where I was stuck inside for days and weeks, and no one knew I was suffering. That level of despair can affect your mental and emotional health. Imagine how people who are suffering from abuse and neglect is feeling, in addition to the coronavirus.
While many of us are adjusting to the change, there are many who are not adjusting at all. Keep them lifted in your prayers.
